Information on the play:

Maeve, a beautiful and successful Irish woman is about to marry Hugo, an equally elegant and cosmopolitan Eurocrat, thus fulfilling her childhood dreams of escape to a more civilised life than the farm she left behind.

She hopes to have left the messiness of her past behind, but when her mother, brother and sister-in-law arrive in Brussels for an engagement dinner, their encounter with Hugo and his ice-queen sister Caroline rakes up their past, destabilises their present and shatters more than one future.

How does one reconcile heart and mind? And are there no limits to what a girl will do to make her dreams come true? “The Handsome Stream” is a blackly humorous look at the compromises we make when home meets the big world outside.

A must for everyone who wants a new take on the dilemmas of the expatriate lifestyle.
