Information on the play:
June 1979. As the play opens "The Mai" of the title, deserted by her
composer husband 5 years previously is anxiously awaiting his return. The play
then records the events of that summer and the following one. The conversations
and stories of the seven women, the history of their family and their broken and
cruel love is remembered, recounted and relived by the Mai's eldest daughter
Millie. Millie fuses past and present, history and love into a story as
intimate, unique, disturbing, affectionate and recognisable as all family
stories.
