The Weir
Written
by: Conor McPherson
Directed by: Stephen Challens
Performed: 4-15 November 2003 in the Studio Theatre in Schaerbeek
Information on the play:
After presenting two very successful original pieces - 'Tartuffe/Tartoof'
adapted by Andrew McIlroy and Loretta Stanley's 'The Yard' the Irish Theatre
Group returned in November 2003 with 'The Weir', a modern Irish classic by Conor
McPherson, directed by Steve Challens, under the kind patronage of the
Ambassador of Ireland.
Enter a pub in the northwest of Ireland, sink a pint or two and watch a "strange
little evening” unfold in front of you. Three regulars and the barman spin and
swap yarns trying to impress Valerie, a newcomer to the village. This woman,
however, has her own tale to tell. Time becomes meaningless in this magic,
humorous and moving blend of Ireland old and modern. Sometimes lives will never
be the same again.
Cast:
- Valerie - Isabel Walsh
- Brendan - Kevin Walsh
- Jack - Maurice Byrne
- Finbar - Henry Dobbin
- Jim - Eoghan O'Neill (week 1) & Jonathan Duff (week 2)
